Almighty Allah, Rabbul Alamin, the Creator of this world, has sent prophets and messengers to mankind in every age. After the first man and prophet Adam (AS) through to Isa (AS), when the people of the world once again fell into idol worship, strife and discord, superstition, disbelief and the darkness of Jahiliyyah, it was then, in the Arabian land of scorching winds and endless desert plains, that the last and greatest Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam), was born as the savior of mankind.
Through him, Almighty Allah established on earth Islam, the one true deen for the liberation of mankind. When the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) saw the victory and completion of the deen of Islam, he sensed that his departure was near. Although the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) performed Hajj twice while living in Makkah after receiving prophethood, after migrating from Makkah to Madinah he performed Hajj only once, in the 10th year of Hijrah. That was the only formal Hajj of his life and his last, known as the Farewell Hajj. More than a hundred thousand Companions were present. The address any ideological leader gives at the final gathering of his followers is undoubtedly significant, and the Prophet's life reached its completion in the Farewell Hajj sermon of Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam).
The address the Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) delivered before about 150,000 Companions on the plain of Arafat on the afternoon of the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, and on the following day, the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the day of Eid and sacrifice, is known as his historic Farewell Hajj Sermon. The Farewell Sermon is an important chapter in the Prophet's life. It was a historic document of humanity, a declaration of the completion of Islam, and a concise summary of the Quran and Sunnah for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah. Its importance in building a humane nation grounded in taqwa is immeasurable.
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) told the people of the world to live by the light of the Quran and Sunnah until the Last Day; only then would they find salvation in this world and the hereafter. Standing in today's twenty-first century, the need to follow it deeply is keenly felt. And so the message of the Farewell Hajj of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam), his final advice, is dedicated here to the welfare of mankind.
